Torpedo Extra IPA - Sierra Nevada Brewing, 7.2% ABV, (Chico, CA)
On the bottle:
“Sierra Nevada Torpedo Ale is a big American IPA, perfectly balanced yet full of flavor and aromas highlighting the complex citrus, pine, and herbal character of whole-cone American hops.”
My Notes:
Tasting Notes: pours clear golden orange with a decent thick foamy head with lasting retention, med-thick sticky lacing, micro CO2, scattered slow-moving CO2 streams. Blast of fresh tangerine/mandarin orange on the nose, extremely inviting. Strong notes of pine up front, fruity tangerine in the mids transitioning nicely to a dry-hopped sharp progressively mellow long 7/10 bitter finish that lingers on the tongue. Med-high complexity, medium depth, long (bitter) length, fine-tuned carry. Complex, interesting, refreshing, potent, balanced, and impressionable. This beer is quite a trip. I’m not a very big lover of IPAs but this one is definitely worth giving a go.
