Krombacher Dark, 4.3% ABV, (Kreutzal, Germany)
On the front label:
“Brewed according to the German Purity Law of 1516. The full-flavoured beer with a fine and malty taste. Dark Pleasure with roasted note.”
My Notes:
Tasting Notes: pours supa-black like a Guinness (ABV close to Guiness 4.1%), small head, minimal runny lacing, small ringed CO2 retention. A bit of roasted malts on the nose, some caramel. Noticeably thin-bodied going down, tingly invasive CO2 in the mids that is off-putting, lightly sweetened breads/barley in at the top of the mouth, very subtle roast and 2/10 bitterness at the finish. Low depth, low-medium complexity, thin-bodied. I dislike the watery mouthfeel and lack of carry at the end. Although dark, it is deceptively weak. Too heavily carbonated - too burpy.
